BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh resigns over ticket dispute

Ajay Pratap Singh, a Rajya Sabha member nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Madhya Pradesh, announced his resignation from the party's primary membership, expressing dissatisfaction with the selection process for candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Singh, who sought a Lok Sabha ticket from the Sidhi constituency, shared his resignation letter via his official social media account addressed to BJP chief J P Nadda. His decision comes amid discontent over the BJP's nomination of Rajesh Mishra for the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, despite Singh's aspirations to contest from there.

Singh, who was nominated to the Upper House of Parliament in March 2018, did not cite specific reasons for his resignation in the one-line letter to BJP chief J P Nadda. Expressing disappointment over the party's candidate selection process, Singh voiced his desire to contest from the Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency, emphasizing his dissatisfaction with the BJP's decision to field Rajesh Mishra instead. With Singh's tenure as a Rajya Sabha member set to end on April 2 and no re-nomination by the party, his resignation underscores internal tensions within the BJP regarding ticket allocation for the forthcoming elections.
